Reconstituting BPC-157, step by step
BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide studied for its effects in animal tissue-repair research. Research-grade vials come as a lyophilized powder that must be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water before a dose can be measured. The one thing that sets BPC-157 apart from GLP-1 peptides is scale: it is dosed in micrograms rather than milligrams, so convert carefully.
The three steps
- Concentration = vial (mg) รท water (mL). A 5 mg vial in 2 mL of bacteriostatic water is 2.5 mg/mL, or 2,500 mcg/mL.
- Volume = dose (mg) รท concentration (mg/mL). A 250 mcg dose is 0.25 mg, so 0.25 รท 2.5 = 0.1 mL. (Enter the dose in mcg above and the conversion is automatic.)
- Units = volume (mL) ร 100. 0.1 mL is 10 units on a U-100 insulin syringe.
Micrograms per unit is the number to watch
Because BPC-157 doses are small, the most useful readout is micrograms per unit. A 5 mg vial in 2 mL gives 25 mcg per unit, so 250 mcg is 10 units and 500 mcg is 20 units on the same syringe. If you would rather draw fewer units, use less water: 1 mL gives 50 mcg per unit, halving the unit count for the same dose. Doses per vial
Divide the vial size by your dose in the same units. A 5 mg (5,000 mcg) vial at 250 mcg per dose gives 20 doses. The water volume does not change this count, only the units you measure each time.
